Stoney Middleton 26th July 2025

- 12.96km route
- Rucking with 20kg's
- Difficulty - Moderate. Some path was quite rocky so you will need a steady footing across these parts, although the majority of the route was pretty level with good paths. The elevation gain was over 400m so a good challenge for your endurance as well.
We started out at Stoney Middleton which is supposed to be popular with Hollywood celebs, since they filmed one of the Mission Impossible films near by. The village was quant, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
It was a bit of a drizzly ruck this week and unlike last week we didn't get away without our waterproofs, although thankfully it wasn't heavy rain. The route started in the village and followed the main road but soon turned off up a rocky path between Calver Peak and Coombe Dale, so you very quickly felt like you were in the middle of no where with just sheep and cows for company. Perfect!
At the top of the path, the route broke out across open fields with views for miles, well we would have been able to see for miles if it wasn't for the mist and drizzle. 😂But it's still great to be in fresh air with the rolling hills as far as the mist will let you see.
Our route hit a bit of a problem, when we found 3 large tree's had fallen across the footpath, we could see where we needed to go, but had a bit of a puzzle to solve on how to get there. Not to be defeated, we took on the 3 tree challenge and weaved our way through he mud and branches, and only got a bit mucky.
Rosie was having the time of her life, running everywhere through the wet grass. you can always tell a happy spaniel when they look all wet and bedraggled!!
The path back down in to Stoney Middleton was a bit slippy as it was all grass, but gave you great views across the valley towards Baslow Edge.
All being said, another ,lovely Saturday morning adventure out in the Peak District. What a way to start the weekend!
