- 9.32km Route
- Rucking with 20kg's
This was the ruck that almost didn't happen. It started out with a bit of cattle wrangling along the Snake Pass as we saw 5 bullocks escaping form a farm gate so had to stop and try and get them back in before any bad happened. thankfully the farmer finally turned up and they all got home safe. shelly thought she was in an episode of Yellowstone and was looking for her horse! (sorry no pictures, too busy wrangling)
Then when we got to the carpark, the weather was definitely against us with sideways rain and howling winds, and we almost turned back. But we decided to wrap up wrap crack on as we were prepared for bad weather. We were so glad we persevered.
It was such a peaceful route with almost no one else about which is our kind of ruck as we can enjoy the soundings much more.
The weather definitely couldn't make up it's mind so we kept our waterproofs on anyway. when we stopped for breakfast, Rosie sat and took in the view while we tucked in.
Once we got to the top, we went over to see the B29 crash site from 1948 where there is a memorial to the lost airmen and the remains of their aircraft. What a powerful reminder.
