From the Cowshed - Dale Abbey 16th August 2025

  • 7.26km route
  • Rucking with 20kg's
  • Route difficulty - Easy. this route is a great for starting out as the path is level and pretty smooth, and you get to treat yourself to a coffee and cake at the end.

We started this week at the Cowshed which is just outside Dale Abbey, as we wanted a no fuss ruck this week so we could relax a bit and enjoy our surroundings. It doesn't always need to be a challenging ruck so we revisited this route to see how things have changed as the seasons have passed since last visit.

Along the route, everything had grown as you'd expect, but what we didn't expect to come across was a field of wild flowers which was covered in hundreds of beautiful yellow sunflowers for as far as the eye could see, and as you walked through, there were swifts flying everywhere catching the insects which were attracted to the colourful flowers. It was so peaceful and relaxing walking through the sea of big yellow smiley flowers.

When we got back to the Cowshed, we treated ourselves to their wonderful coffee and a cake each. Bliss.
