Crantock Beach, Newquay 8th February 2025

  • 8.63km route
  • Rucking with 20kg's

This weekend we planned a bit of a road trip to visit a friend in Cornwall. We travelled to Newquay for a ruck around the Cornish coastline with Rob and his lovely pooch Jazzy.

We started the day at Crantock Beach and followed the River Gannel down to the sea. The weather the day before was bitterly cold so we were lucky that this morning the sun was peaking out from behind the clouds and the wind had dropped, making it quite a pleasant morning (not that you'd think from looking at us in our hats and gloves).

We cut up through the dunes and followed the cliff top along West Pentire to Porth Joke where Rob has promised us we would see the local seal population on a secluded cover where they gather. And he didn't disappoint!

We stopped on the cliff top for a coffee and some breakfast and then headed inland across the beautiful Cornish countryside to get back to where we started.

What a stunning place to visit and getting the chance to see some of the larger wildlife was a real treat. Definitively worth the 6 hour drive. We will be back.
